Lesson 2 of 6 · Putting it off is mood repair
The one sentence
Notice, do not fix. Seeing the feeling that arrives just before you reach for the phone is the whole of it this week.
The move
Naming the trade out loud
5 minutes or less
- Next time you put it off, stop and name what you just got. Relief, usually, and immediately.
- Name what it will cost, and when. Not vaguely: on Thursday, when there is less time.
- Do not argue with yourself. Just make the trade visible once.
- Then do two minutes of the thing anyway.
If it does not work
If two minutes is too much, do thirty seconds. The number is not the point; starting while still not feeling like it is the point.
Write the one sentence
A specific plan works better than a good intention. Fill both halves in your own words.
When
I will
Put it in your calendar
Pick a day and a time and you will get a calendar file to open. Nothing is sent anywhere.
