Lesson 3 of 6 · Fatrah is inside the sunnah

Where the slackening lands you

The question the report asks is where you end up when the zeal comes off.

If a person comes off the peak and settles into something moderate and regular, that is the good outcome, and the report says to have hope for them. If they come off it into something else entirely, that is different.

So the thing to look at is not whether you dropped from what you were doing in Ramadan. Everybody drops from what they were doing in Ramadan. The thing to look at is what you settled onto, and whether there is anything under you at all.

Which is exactly what the next lesson is about.

Qur’an and Sunnah

The same report again, for its second half. The question it asks is where you land when the zeal comes off, and if a person settles into something moderate it says to have hope for them.

So if its practitioner behaves properly, and is moderate, then hope for him (for his success). But if the fingers are pointed to him, then do not count him (among the worthy)." It has been related from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet SAW said: "It is sufficient evil for a man that fingers be raised against him, regarding religion or worldly matters, except for one whom Allah has protected
