Lesson 4 of 6 · Set the floor, not the ceiling
The one sentence
Name the floor, the time, and the place. All three.
The move
Setting the floor
10 minutes or less
- Choose the smallest amount you will keep doing on the worst day. Smaller than you think.
- Write it down as a sentence with a time in it.
- Do that and no more for two weeks, even on days you could do more.
- The point is that the floor holds, not that it is impressive. A floor you keep beats a ceiling you miss.
If it does not work
If you miss a day, the floor was too high. Lower it rather than promising harder, and start again the next day rather than the next month.
Write the one sentence
A specific plan works better than a good intention. Fill both halves in your own words.
When
I will
Put it in your calendar
Pick a day and a time and you will get a calendar file to open. Nothing is sent anywhere.
