Making and taking a repair attempt

10 minutes or less

  1. A repair attempt is anything that lowers the temperature. A joke, a hand, an apology, a break.
  2. Make one during the next disagreement, early, before it is bad.
  3. When they make one, take it, even if you are still right. Taking it is the skill, and it is rarer than making one.
  4. Do not point out afterwards that you did it.

If it does not work

If yours is refused, do not make a second one immediately. Wait, and try again later. A refused repair is about the moment rather than about the marriage.
