The one sentence
One behaviour, named out loud, within a few seconds. Nothing else changes this week.

Catching it earlier each time
10 minutes or less
- Name your first physical sign, the same way the anger material does.
- When you notice it, say out loud: I am going to take a minute.
- Go and put the kettle on, or stand at a window. Sixty seconds.
- Come back and say the instruction once, calmly, close to the child rather than shouted across a room.
- Two clear instructions beat ten shouted ones.
If it does not work
If you do not catch it, catch it afterwards. Going back and repairing is a skill in itself and children learn more from watching a repair than from never seeing a rupture.
