Two. The night
It is worse at night and it is worse in bed, and neither of those is a coincidence.
Tired people compare badly. When sleep is short or broken, the capacity to regulate an emotional response drops, which is why the same post is a shrug at nine in the morning and a verdict at midnight.
And a phone in bed makes the last input of your day a stream of other people's best hours, delivered to you at your least defended. There is a physical half to that as well. Reading from a light emitting screen in the hours before sleep suppresses melatonin, pushes the body clock later, lengthens the time it takes to fall asleep and leaves you less alert the next morning. So the phone in bed is not only the content. It is also the thing making tomorrow's version of you more tired.
Nothing about any of that is a moral failing. It is a bedroom layout.
