Nobody wakes you, nobody notices you missed a lecture, and the work has no shape until the week it is due. The things that help are dull and specific: fixed hours you always study, one person who expects you somewhere each week, and registering with the disability or student support service early rather than after the first failed module. Arranging that in the first fortnight is far easier than arranging it in a crisis.
God wishes to lighten your burden (Quran 4:28). Setting up support early is in keeping with that, rather than something to be embarrassed about.

An integrative review of ADHD across women's lives synthesises evidence that it is often recognised late or misdiagnosed, with consequences that build up over the years. Young women reaching university without a diagnosis are part of that pattern. It reviews the literature on women's experience rather than following students through a first year.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Every prompt and deadline that school supplied has to be replaced by something you set up yourself.
If things fell apart when your routine did, that is information rather than a character flaw. A great deal of what was holding you together was built into the day around you.
A child who is tall for their age gets treated as older, and with ADHD their self-management may be running years behind. Pitch what you expect to the skills in front of you rather than to the height.
With ADHD, self-management usually runs a few years behind the birthday. Expecting a child to handle what other children their age handle sets you both up to fail.
