A child whose brakes are slow benefits from having the decision made in advance, out loud, many times over. Then it is not something to work out in the heat of a playground row, it is a line already drawn. Add a legitimate place to put the physical energy and the two together can settle things that talking about behaviour did not. Ask any club you are considering how they teach this part.
Do not cause corruption in the land (Quran 2:60). The instruction comes attached to provision and strength, as a limit set on what you do with them.

A Cochrane review in children and young people found exercise associated with modest reductions in depression and anxiety, though the trials were small and of variable quality. Nothing there measured playground aggression, so the evidence covers mood rather than conduct. The rule about when force is allowed is the part carrying the weight here, and it has not been tested in the same way.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
A rule rehearsed in advance is available in the second when there is no time to think.
If a child is already being violent at home or at school, that needs proper assessment rather than a new hobby.
Unstructured play in a big open space settles a child. A structured class teaches them how to be with other children. You want some of each, for different reasons.
The best exercise is whichever one you go back to. Something you enjoy, outdoors if you can, with other people if that helps, and above all something you will do again on Thursday.
End a session with a few minutes of sitting still. The styles that close with quiet seem to help most with the pause before reacting.
