Expect the difference to show up as an odd hour or two where you can sit still and hold a page, and still do not fancy the page. That is the drug working exactly as it works. What fills the gap is the unglamorous scaffolding: deciding the task the night before, setting a start time, sitting somewhere you have already said you would work.
This explains how treatments work. Never start, stop or change a medication because of something you read here.

A randomised trial in adults already taking medication for ADHD added cognitive behavioural therapy and found improvement in core symptoms, though effects on the other problems alongside were mixed. The therapy was doing something the medication was not. One trial in adults is a modest basis, and it points the same way as the usual advice to pair the two.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Attention is what improves, and choosing what to point it at is still your job.
The legal category a medicine sits in is not a rating of how dangerous it is. Stimulants sit in a stricter class than several drugs that are considerably harder to come off, and the ordering owes a good deal to history.
Before anyone concludes that medication does not work for you, check what dose was actually reached. Doses in general practice often stay lower than a specialist would use, and a fair share of so called non responders respond once the dose goes up.
There is now a version taken in the evening that only switches on around nine hours later, so it is already working when you wake. The point of it is the morning, not the night.
