A vague warning leaves you reading every ache as a sign that something is going wrong. Being told that an unsettled stomach, loose bowels, headache and some nausea are common early, and that they usually ease within a week or two, turns a frightening symptom into a box you can tick off. Take the list away written down if you can, because almost nobody remembers it at the time.
This explains how treatments work. Never start, stop or change a medication because of something you read here.
'God does not wish to place any burden on you: He only wishes to cleanse you' (Quran 5:6). A discomfort with a purpose and an end is a different thing from one that seems to have neither.
المائدة
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا قُمۡتُمۡ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَٱغۡسِلُواْ وُجُوهَكُمۡ وَأَيۡدِيَكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡمَرَافِقِ وَٱمۡسَحُواْ بِرُءُوسِكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡكَعۡبَيۡنِۚ وَإِن كُنتُمۡ جُنُبࣰ ا فَٱطَّهَّرُواْۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرۡضَىٰٓ أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوۡ جَآءَ أَحَدࣱ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡغَآئِطِ أَوۡ لَٰمَسۡتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمۡ تَجِدُواْ مَآءࣰ فَتَيَمَّمُواْ صَعِيدࣰ ا طَيِّبࣰ ا فَٱمۡسَحُواْ بِوُجُوهِكُمۡ وَأَيۡدِيكُم مِّنۡهُۚ مَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيَجۡعَلَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّنۡ حَرَجࣲ وَلَٰكِن يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمۡ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعۡمَتَهُۥ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ
You who believe, when you are about to pray, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, wipe your heads, wash your feet up to the ankles and, if required, wash your whole body. If any of you is sick or on a journey, or has just relieved himself, or had intimate contact with a woman, and can find no water, then take some clean sand and wipe your face and hands with it. God does not wish to place any burden on you: He only wishes to cleanse you and perfect His blessing on you, so that you may be thankful

An open study following adults through a year of ADHD treatment in ordinary clinics found real benefit alongside a good deal of dose adjustment and a genuine burden of side effects. In routine care side effects are common rather than rare. That is an argument for naming them at the start rather than hoping they will not come up.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
A symptom you were expecting is far easier to sit with than the same symptom arriving unexplained.
Nobody asks whether you believe in insulin. The language of belief has attached itself to ADHD medication, which happens to be among the more heavily tested treatments in medicine, so the useful question is what the testing found.
Some long acting tablets are small machines. The coating gives you the first part within about half an hour, then fluid seeps in through a laser drilled hole and pushes the rest out steadily across eight to ten hours.
Treat the first fortnight as a stretch that needs contact rather than silence. Say plainly that things may feel worse before they feel better, and arrange to hear from the person during that window instead of after it.
