This is worth knowing because it explains what a person actually feels. A drug with a second action brings a second set of effects, wanted and unwanted, so a client who has switched to one of these is not simply on an SSRI with a different name. When you are listening for what has changed since the switch, the second mechanism is usually where the difference shows.
A teaching from your Lord has come to you, a healing for what is in your hearts (Quran 10:57). Healing is described as reaching what is inside, which is the place these medicines are aimed at.

Combined treatments are usually tested as a whole package. In a randomised trial, an online programme that put behavioural activation, cognitive restructuring and mindfulness together reduced depressive symptoms compared with a waiting list. Which ingredient did the work was not established there, and the same caution belongs with a molecule that has more than one action.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Two actions in one tablet means two sets of effects to expect rather than one.
The chemistry story runs backwards from how it is usually told. Nobody found a low chemical and then built a drug. They noticed what certain drugs did to mood and reasoned back to what must have been missing.
If a treatment reliably produces strange sensations, describe them beforehand. Expected strangeness is far easier to sit through than strangeness that arrives unannounced.
When someone tells you they have been hurting themselves, keep your face steady and stay curious. Alarm closes the conversation, and you need it open.
