Worth naming as something the environment is doing rather than a fact about your character, because what an environment produces can be changed by changing the environment. The repair is slow and fairly ordinary. Time with a small number of people whose whole selves you can see, conversations long enough for someone to be dull and kind in the same hour, and noticing when your own account of a person has hardened into a single word.
Wealth and children are the attractions of this worldly life, but lasting good works have a better reward with your Lord (Quran 18:46). The shiny version of a life is weighed against the durable one, which is the distinction a feed keeps blurring.

A systematic review across 21 countries brought together work on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and short-form video and their relation to health, sleep quality, body image and mood, using a narrative rather than a statistical synthesis. Body image is the closest thing in it to the distortion described here. A narrative synthesis of largely cross-sectional work cannot show that the platforms caused it, so this is a reasonable description of a pattern and not a measured effect.

If the screen limit in your house is only your preference, every evening turns into a negotiation about your preference. Borrowing a published figure, roughly two hours a day of leisure screen time for a child over two, moves the argument off you.
Charge the phone in another room overnight and use a proper alarm clock. Small change, and it takes the decision away from you completely.
Ask a child how long they were on the tablet and the answer comes back low. Ask their parent and that answer comes back low too. Neither of them is exactly lying to you.
