Tidy usually means hidden, which is why so much storage quietly fails. Try the opposite: hooks instead of hangers, open boxes, a clear jar, one bowl by the door where keys and cards live and nothing else does. It will not look like the photographs, and it does not need to. The test is whether you can find the thing in four seconds and put it back without opening anything.
There is nothing, fresh or withered, that is not written in a clear Record (Quran 6:59). Nothing escapes God's knowing. Ours is far smaller, which is why we keep things where our eyes can reach them.

Measurement work in habit research supports automaticity, how little thought a step takes, rather than repetition alone, as the ingredient that makes a routine hold. A visible home for a thing is what makes putting it back automatic. That work was about how habits are measured rather than about tidying a bedroom, so the reasoning here is sound rather than tested.

For a lot of us out of sight really is out of mind, so a system that keeps things visible is a system that gets used.
Some things can only be done between nine and five, and those are the ones that quietly fail. Ring the bank, chase the appointment, sort the form: give those a time before anything else.
When a decision is looming, write the options out rather than talking them through. A test is coming: do nothing, make a revision timetable, ask for extra help. Three lines on paper.
The cheapest place to deal with a task is before it ever reaches your list. Some things are better declined in the moment they are offered.
