So the honest question is not whether someone ought to learn from what happens. It is whether the timing gives them any chance to. A cost that lands next April will not shape a Tuesday in August, however sensible the link looks written down. That makes it a design problem rather than a character problem, and design problems can be fixed.
'And neglect the life to come' (Quran 75:21). What sits further away simply gets less weight, and that is stated as a plain fact about us rather than an accusation.

A review of the research on procrastination identifies the delay before an incentive arrives as one of the three task features that most reliably produce putting things off, alongside how unpleasant the task is and how big the incentive is. It is a review rather than a trial, so it maps the terrain instead of telling you what to do. What it does say clearly is that the delay itself is doing real work.

Write it up before you leave. One salesman, knowing full well he will not remember the visit an hour later, does his notes in the car with the engine still off.
'It's bad for your health' and 'grades matter later' move nobody, least of all someone who has never seen what either one looks like.
