This matters practically. Adults who react hard and settle quickly are often given a mood or personality diagnosis instead, and the plan that follows fits badly. If that has happened to you, it is worth raising directly with whoever is treating you. If you are the clinician, ask about the pattern across a lifetime rather than only about the episode in front of you.
'We know what his soul whispers to him' (Quran 50:16). Being known accurately is not a small thing, and being described wrongly is not either.

We created man––We know what his soul whispers to him: We are closer to him than his jugular vein––

A narrative review describes emotional dysregulation as a feature cutting across child and adolescent psychiatric conditions rather than marking out any single one of them. That is a caution in both directions: intense emotion neither confirms ADHD nor rules it out. Narrative reviews summarise a field rather than measuring it, so this is orientation and not proof.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
The name a difficulty is given decides what help gets offered for it.
Do not use this to talk yourself out of a diagnosis you already have; the point is a fuller picture, not a swap.
You can be connected to a thing as well as to a person. A cause, a project, something you are making. On the days people feel like too much, it is still there.
Sometimes the answer is not a better system. It is doing less, including giving up something you love, because what it costs you has stopped being affordable.
Halfway up the argument, ask yourself one question. What do I want here, and who am I trying to be. Winning the sentence is rarely worth what it costs by bedtime.
