The useful information is all in the specifics: the request came in the corridor, the phone was in your other hand, you were already late. That is a fixable situation. Being cross with yourself gives you nothing to work with and makes you less likely to look honestly next time. Ask about one instance, notice the pattern across a few, and change the setup rather than the character.
Whenever you forget, remember your Lord and say, May my Lord guide me closer to what is right (Quran 18:24). Forgetting is met with a turn back rather than a punishment, which is the tone to take with yourself here.

A meta-review of 30 meta-analyses covering 409,185 people examined whether self-regulation techniques such as self-monitoring carry across different behaviours, and treats them as learnable rather than fixed. Watching your own failure points sits inside that family. Those findings come mostly from eating and activity research, so read it as a general steer.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
You can only fix a failure point you have looked at closely and honestly.
Go down the list and find the two items that have been sitting there for months. One of them needs doing this week. The other needs deleting, honestly and out loud.
Nobody needs help starting the things they enjoy. The skill worth building is starting the dull ones, and it is a narrower skill than it looks.
Paint the room is not a task. Fill the holes, tape the edges, buy the rollers, do one wall. That is four tasks, and each one ends.
