When we weigh up leaving something undone, we usually count only the visible consequences, the letter that might arrive or the person who might notice. The quiet worry gets left out of the sum, and it is often the larger figure, because it runs every day rather than once. Doing the thing buys back the background noise as much as it clears the task.
Hurry towards your Lord's forgiveness (Quran 3:133). The verse addresses people who have just fallen short, and the movement it asks for is towards relief rather than away in shame.

A meta-analysis of bedtime procrastination found that delaying with no outside reason to delay is linked to poor sleep, and identifies the self-regulation factors that travel with it. It is one measured example of a private delay carrying a real cost. It is about sleep specifically, and the design shows what goes together rather than what causes what.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Something unfinished keeps taking small amounts of attention until it is done.
Sometimes both roads carry a cost and neither will feel good. Accept that first, then choose, rather than searching for the option that comes without a sting.
Keep your clearest hours for the work that needs a clear head. Fold the laundry when you are half awake, not at ten in the morning when you have finally come alive.
Not all delaying is the same thing. Some of it is wanting it perfect, some of it is expecting to fail the way you did last time, and some of it is being genuinely busy with everything except the one job.
