The knowledge is usually already there. What fails is showing it through a long, still, low feedback task, and that is the part worth redesigning. Making a map, running the experiment, or putting a collage together gives the child steady input and something coming back at them constantly, which is what keeps them in the room. None of this lowers the bar, it moves the same bar somewhere they can actually reach it.
He has chosen you and placed no hardship in your religion (Quran 22:78). A route that a person can genuinely walk is not a lesser route.
الحج
وَجَٰهِدُواْ فِي ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِۦۚ هُوَ ٱجۡتَبَىٰكُمۡ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِي ٱلدِّينِ مِنۡ حَرَجࣲۚ مِّلَّةَ أَبِيكُمۡ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَۚ هُوَ سَمَّىٰكُمُ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ مِن قَبۡلُ وَفِي هَٰذَا لِيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ شَهِيدًا عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَتَكُونُواْ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِۚ فَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱعۡتَصِمُواْ بِٱللَّهِ هُوَ مَوۡلَىٰكُمۡۖ فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمَوۡلَىٰ وَنِعۡمَ ٱلنَّصِيرُ
Strive hard for God as is His due: He has chosen you and placed no hardship in your religion, the faith of your forefather Abraham. God has called you Muslims––both in the past and in this [message]––so that the Messenger can bear witness about you and so that you can bear witness about other people. So keep up the prayer, give the prescribed alms, and seek refuge in God: He is your protector––an excellent protector and an excellent helper

An updated meta analysis of randomised trials found that behavioural activation, which works by systematically rescheduling what a person does rather than by working on their thoughts, is an effective treatment for depression compared with control conditions and with antidepressants. That is depression research, not education, so it is only an echo of the idea that changing the activity itself is a real lever. It carries no claim about how children learn.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Doing something that answers back keeps a child switched on, where a task that asks only for stillness lets them fade.
The benefit comes from how often you touch it. Writing something in is a rehearsal, looking it up is a reminder, and by the time the day arrives you have met it so many times that nothing takes you by surprise.

When you set your own deadline, watch what happens to it. Thursday becomes Friday, Friday becomes Monday, and it helps to know what that slide actually costs rather than guessing at it.
