This matters most if you grew up being told your read on a situation was wrong. Noticing the sensation, naming it, then checking it against what you know is a way back towards trusting yourself. It does not mean every gut feeling is correct. It means it is information worth having rather than noise to override.

A systematic review of interoception, vagal tone and emotional regulation found both bodily awareness and vagal tone relate to how well people regulate emotion, while noting the two have usually been studied separately. So noticing your body and being steadier do travel together. Whether your gut reads a situation accurately is a different question, and this review does not answer it.
