Close attention is not neutral for a person who grew up being watched for a reason. Asking first turns being observed into something they agreed to, and a flat description leaves the meaning with them: your eyes filled, you reached for a tissue straight away, and then it seemed to stop. No interpretation attached, just an invitation to look at it together.
Wait patiently for your Lord's judgement: you are under Our watchful eye (Quran 52:48). Being watched is offered there as care rather than scrutiny, which is the difference an invitation makes.

In a randomised trial with 75 women with irritable bowel syndrome, mindfulness training reduced catastrophic readings of bodily sensations, and that reduction accounted for much of the symptom improvement. It was how a sensation got appraised that carried the benefit. Nothing here tests asking permission, but it does support the wider point that framing changes what an experience does to a person.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
An observation someone said yes to feels like company, and the same words unasked for feel like being caught.
Anger wants the body to do something, so let it. Breathe deeper and higher into the chest, stand up, press both palms hard into a wall, walk on the spot, push down through your feet.
Wise mind is not a calmer version of you. It is the state where what you feel and what you have thought through are both in the room, and neither has thrown the other out.
Stop fighting what already is. Accepting a hard reality, without approving of it, ends the extra layer of pain.
