People often assume a slow heart rate must mean a healthy one. You can have a perfectly normal rate with a rigid, unvarying rhythm, and the rigidity is the part that matters. A flexible rhythm means the system can respond to things. If you have ever seen a number on a watch and felt judged by it, this is worth knowing: it is a rough measure of flexibility, not a score for your character.
'He makes the dawn break' (Quran 6:96) and set the sun and moon to a precise measure. Rhythm rather than speed is what is being praised.
He makes the dawn break; He makes the night for rest; and He made the sun and the moon to a precise measure. That is the design of the Almighty, the All Knowing

A meta analysis of 63,612 participants found that men and women differ systematically in measures of autonomic heart control, which means any personal reading has to be interpreted against the right comparison group. A number from a wearable is not self explanatory. That study was about sex differences in healthy people, and it stands as a general warning against reading your own figure too confidently.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Flexibility is what lets a system meet whatever comes, so the variation itself is the good news rather than the noise.
The tools that reach what words cannot are physical: feet on the floor, a long breath out, pushing hard against a wall, deliberately walking away from something.
The stress hormone that carries you through a hard month also quietens your immune system while it is high. When it drops, the immune side comes back up.
The steadiness you are training shows up in more than your mood. Sleep, digestion and how quickly you come down after a fright tend to move together.
