Lesson 6 of 6 · When to get help, and what help looks like
The last one
Make it concrete. A day, and a person.
The move
Making the appointment
10 minutes or less
- Write how long you have felt like this, in weeks.
- Write two things it has stopped you doing, and one thing about sleep or appetite.
- Write one opening sentence. I have felt flat for three months and I have stopped going to work.
- If you have had thoughts of ending your life, write that down too, and say it first.
- Book the appointment and take the paper with you.
If it does not work
If you cannot get the words out, hand over the paper. And if you are having thoughts of ending your life, that is today rather than an appointment: the numbers are on the getting help page.
Write the one sentence
A specific plan works better than a good intention. Fill both halves in your own words.
When
I will
Put it in your calendar
Pick a day and a time and you will get a calendar file to open. Nothing is sent anywhere.
