Lesson 2 of 6 · Why loneliness makes you harder to reach
The one sentence
Notice, do not correct. Writing the prediction down before the outcome arrives is the whole of it this week.
The move
Catching the reading before the retreat
5 minutes or less
- After the next interaction that felt bad, write what you concluded. They were bored, they did not want me there.
- Write what actually happened, in facts only. She looked at her phone once. He left after twenty minutes.
- Read the two side by side. The conclusion is usually much bigger than the facts.
- You are not proving yourself wrong. You are noticing there is a gap, because loneliness widens it.
If it does not work
If the facts genuinely support the conclusion, that happens and it is not always the loneliness talking. Then the question is whether that one person is the whole sample, and usually they are not.
Write the one sentence
A specific plan works better than a good intention. Fill both halves in your own words.
