A brand collects a reputation that has nothing to do with the molecule, usually from something somebody said years ago. So ask plainly: what is the actual drug in this, and how does it differ from the one I have heard about. Sometimes the honest answer is that the difference is how long it lasts and nothing more, and hearing that can unstick a decision that has been stuck for months.
This explains how treatments work. Never start, stop or change a medication because of something you read here.
Some of which you have made unlawful and some lawful. Has God given you permission (Quran 10:59). Forbidding yourself something on no real basis is challenged directly there.

A review of ADHD in children and young people notes that around five percent of the community meet criteria while rates of diagnosis and treatment vary enormously between countries and services. A great deal of what decides whether somebody gets treated is context and attitude rather than the medicine itself. That is a review of services rather than a study of how brand names are perceived, so take it as background.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
A reputation attaches itself to a name, while the effects belong to the substance inside.
If a small child cannot swallow tablets, that is a solvable problem rather than a reason to give up on treatment. One methylphenidate preparation comes as a skin patch.
Public health messages sometimes say parent training works just as well as medication and carries no side effects. Both halves of that are wrong, and a family who believes it can lose a year.
Mechanism is a moving thing, so it is easier to watch than to read. A university made animation of what happens at the junction will teach you more in ten minutes than a page of description.
