People have been turned away for having a prescriber in the next county, or told the shop does not stock narcotics for a medicine that is not one. Ask for the reason in specific terms, ask for the supervising pharmacist, then take it to the chain's head office or the professional regulator. Write down names and times as you go. The person most likely to be refused is the one with the least energy for a fight, which is why the steps are worth knowing before you need them.

'do not forbid the good things God has made lawful to you' (Quran 5:87). A lawful prescribed remedy withheld on somebody's private rule sits close to what that warns against.

A network meta-analysis of randomised trials in children and adolescents found stimulants produced the largest symptom reductions of any single intervention, with non-medication approaches doing less well on the same measures. What is being refused at the counter is therefore the best supported treatment in the field. That is a reason to press on rather than accept an informal no.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Most of these refusals dissolve once somebody senior has to put the reason in writing.
Ask how many hours the cover really lasts, not only whether it helps. A long acting stimulant is meant to carry roughly ten to twelve hours, so if everything collapses by mid afternoon that is worth reporting.
The message is a key rather than a parcel. It fits a lock on the receiving cell, turns it, and then comes away again instead of being swallowed.
Before you explain anything about medication, ask what the person already believes about it. You cannot correct a worry that has never been said out loud.
