For a lot of people that word carries school changing rooms and years of not keeping things up. Swap it and the list of things that count grows: stairs, parking further away, walking to the shop, kicking a ball about with a child. None of that needs kit or a membership, and it is the same activity a study would be measuring.
It was He who spread out the earth for you and traced routes in it (Quran 20:53). Routes were traced through ordinary ground, which is where most of anyone's moving actually happens.

Meta-analyses of randomised trials in cancer survivors use the broad measure, physical activity, rather than anything gym shaped, and found improvements across fatigue, mood and quality of life. What got counted there was activity in the ordinary sense of the word. Walking to the shop is in the same currency, not a lesser one.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
The word you use decides which options come to mind, and a wider set of options is easier to act on.
Use a timer you can see rather than a warning you have to remember. A dial that shrinks, or a light that goes from green to red, does the work that five more minutes never quite does.
Martial arts happen to bundle four useful things at once: hard physical work, a fixed structure, feedback in the moment, and a teacher who stays. That is why they suit restless minds so well.
Learn a long sequence in small pieces and join them up afterwards. Nobody should be holding twelve steps in their head at once.
