Being sharp one week and unable to start anything the next looks, from the inside, like proof that the good weeks were an act. Regulation that varies explains it better. Naming that mechanism usually helps more than being told you deserve your place, because it accounts for the evidence you keep noticing rather than asking you to ignore it.
Whoever does good deeds and has faith, We shall give a good life and reward them according to the best of their actions (Quran 16:97). The measure taken there is your best, not your most inconsistent week.

A feasibility trial of a standardised compassion focused group in a university counselling service worked with seventy five clients and measured shame, self criticism and self reassurance alongside distress. A feasibility trial asks whether something can be run and is worth testing properly, not whether it works. It does show that in a student population these are the things worth measuring.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
An explanation that fits your actual history convinces where reassurance that ignores it cannot.
The famous ADHD success stories are real and they are also the exception. The commoner story, for someone whose difficulty was never identified, is quietly dropping out of things and disappearing.
The idea that attention problems are a moral failing is older than the diagnosis itself. An early medical name for this put it down to defective moral control, so if you grew up hearing that you simply were not trying, you were hearing an echo of that.
The parts of this that look like lifestyle, meaning sleep, driving, drinking, appointments that get missed, are the parts carrying the most risk across a lifetime. They are also the most changeable parts.
