Worth naming out loud in a household, because the reminding costs the relationship something and never builds the missing part. A better arrangement moves the job from a person to a system you both trust: a shared calendar, a whiteboard in the kitchen, an alarm you set yourself while they watch. Then the other person can go back to being your partner rather than your alarm clock, and the structure is yours to keep.
urge one another to the truth, and urge one another to steadfastness (Quran 103:3). Encouraging each other is honoured, which is not the same as one person carrying the other's diary.

Two randomised trials, with 383 and 221 participants, tested mental contrasting with implementation intentions, an exercise where you picture the outcome you want along with the obstacle in the way and decide in advance what you will do when it turns up. They were run on bedtime procrastination rather than on household reminding. Even so, they model the shift being suggested here: a routine the person runs themselves in place of somebody else supplying the urgency.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
A reminder from another person stands in for the missing function instead of building it, so nothing is left when they are not there.
A hundred pounds now, or the same hundred pounds guaranteed at the end of the year. Same money, same certainty. One of them pulls at you and the other does not.
People rarely stop at you are late. They move on to what sort of person is late, and then it is about respect and reliability rather than about time. You have probably taken that account on board yourself.
A clock with hands shows you how much is left. A number only tells you where you are, which is why the hour can vanish while you keep checking it.
