Once a partner or a manager supplies all the pressure, nothing inside you ever needs to. They end up tired and resentful, you end up handled like a child, and the job still only moves when their voice goes up. Swap it for something you asked for: a time you both agreed, a check in you requested, a message you send once the thing is done. Same support, different footing.
God does not change the condition of a people unless they change what is in themselves (Quran 13:11). The first move stays with the person, which is exactly what being chased takes away.
الرعد

A Cochrane review describes motivational interviewing as a directive but person-centred style whose whole point is helping someone resolve their own mixed feelings rather than pushing them. That backs the shift from chasing to working alongside. It reviews counselling for smoking rather than household arrangements, so the transfer is by analogy.

Pressure you asked for leaves you in charge, while pressure applied to you takes your place.
Email is the easiest place to hide. It answers back, it never runs out, and by five o'clock it feels like you worked.
Two kinds of pressure get things done: the kind that comes from outside you, like deadlines and someone waiting, and the kind you generate yourself. Both are legitimate.
Nobody needs help starting the things they enjoy. The skill worth building is starting the dull ones, and it is a narrower skill than it looks.
