A meta-regression of behaviour change trials found that the specific ingredients of a programme explain the differences in results, rather than everything working out much the same. It supports paying attention to the exact step you take instead of to effort in general. Clarification was not one of the techniques it isolated, so this is background support rather than direct evidence.
