This is worth knowing because much of the improvement people do get comes from arranging things to suit themselves: the job that fits, the hours that fit, the people who do not mind how you work. That is a real gain and it is not the same as the condition lifting. Knowing the difference saves you from reading a bad month in a badly fitting situation as proof that you have gone backwards.
God does not burden any soul with more than He has given it (Quran 65:7). The measure is what you have actually been given, not what somebody else was given.
الطلاق
لِيُنفِقۡ ذُو سَعَةࣲ مِّن سَعَتِهِۦۖ وَمَن قُدِرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقُهُۥ فَلۡيُنفِقۡ مِمَّآ ءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُۚ لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا مَآ ءَاتَىٰهَاۚ سَيَجۡعَلُ ٱللَّهُ بَعۡدَ عُسۡرࣲ يُسۡرࣰ ا

A cognitive behavioural account of adult ADHD argues that treatment has to address not only the core symptoms but the accumulation of poor outcomes built up over a life. It is a narrative review rather than a trial, so take it as a way of framing the problem. It does support putting your effort into the shape of your life rather than waiting for the symptoms to leave.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
You can change your circumstances far more than you can change the wiring, and most of the relief comes from the first.
It rarely stays a matter of attention. The difficulties shape what you come to believe about yourself, that colours how you are with the people closest to you, and their responses feed straight back into the original trouble.
When you fall off task, restart without the pile-on. Talk to yourself like a good coach, not a critic.
It tends to run the same way each time. You struggle with something, you feel awful about it, so you keep away from it, and anyone who raises it gets a sharp answer, which makes you keep away harder.
