Streaks make one slip cost everything, so the missed night turns into a missed week and then the whole effort gets quietly dropped. Aiming for more good days over a month keeps a bad Tuesday as just a bad Tuesday. If you are helping someone else, notice how they talk about a lapse and offer the gentler count back to them, since the words they use about it tend to decide what happens next.

'My servants who have harmed yourselves by your own excess, do not despair of God's mercy' (Quran 39:53). If despair is refused even there, a broken run of early nights is nowhere near enough reason for it.

Real treatment rarely runs in a clean line. An open label study followed adults with ADHD through a year of ordinary care and found genuine benefit arriving alongside substantial dose adjustment and a real burden of side effects. It is observational rather than controlled, so it cannot prove what caused the improvement, and it does describe the texture well: the year that helped people was a year of changes and setbacks rather than a smooth run.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
When nothing is riding on a perfect run, one bad day stays one bad day instead of ending the whole attempt.
If the medication question is the one burning a hole in your pocket, try holding it until last on purpose. Heard after everything else, the answer lands differently.
When a dose that was working seems to stop working in a growing child, check height and weight before you reach for the word tolerance. These medicines are dosed by body weight, and a child can simply have outgrown the dose.
New medicines will probably come from genetics and from the chemistry of the frontal lobes. None of it is close enough to be worth waiting for.
