Anger wants to push, fear wants to get out of the room, sadness wants to curl up, shame wants to disappear. None of that is wrong, and the trouble is that the move usually arrives before the thinking does. So name the pull out loud, even just to yourself: I want to walk out right now. Named, it becomes a choice rather than the next thing that happens.
he went off angrily, thinking We could not restrict him (Quran 21:87). The anger is described by the departure it produced, which is how these things usually show themselves.
الأنبياء
وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَٰضِبࣰ ا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقۡدِرَ عَلَيۡهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِي ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ أَن لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبۡحَٰنَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
And remember the man with the whale,when he went off angrily, thinking We could not restrict him, but then he cried out in the deep darkness, ‘There is no God but You, glory be to You, I was wrong.’

A conceptual review describes emotions as biologically based responses that arise when something important is at stake, and traces how a night of sleep shapes the next day's mood, reactivity and capacity to manage it. The point worth taking is that emotion is a response to stakes rather than an interruption to normal service. It is a review setting out a framework rather than a single test of it.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Feeling is built to launch action, so the moment you can see the launch you get a say in it.
Once the feeling is actually in the room, ask the plain question: what did you hear her saying about you? The answer is usually where the sting really lives.
Ask what the feeling is trying to do for you. Anger clears an obstacle, fear gets you out, sadness calls for comfort, shame hides you from being seen.
Go back to the second before you reacted. Not the argument, not the history, just that one second and what crossed you in it.
