Group classes suit some people and cost others far more than they give. A video at home, a quiet corner, the same fifteen minutes, all of it counts. If the group is the barrier, take out the group and keep the practice.

A home based physical activity programme for mothers at risk of postnatal depression proved workable and acceptable to the women in it. That trial was a pilot, built to test whether people could do it rather than to show that symptoms lifted, so read it as evidence about feasibility and not about cure.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
What helps is the exertion and the attention you bring to it, and neither of those needs an audience.
The best exercise is whichever one you go back to. Something you enjoy, outdoors if you can, with other people if that helps, and above all something you will do again on Thursday.
Bolt the movement onto something you would want to do anyway. A game with a friend, a walk to somewhere with good coffee at the end, a route past the river.
Learn a long sequence in small pieces and join them up afterwards. Nobody should be holding twelve steps in their head at once.
