That does not make it useless. It does mean you would be trying something promising rather than something established, and you deserve to know that before paying for it. Ask what the evidence actually is, ask what happens if it does not help, and treat any promise of transformation with a raised eyebrow.
'who reflect on the creation of the heavens and earth' (Quran 3:191). Weighing what is actually in front of you is treated as part of faith, not a lapse in it.
آل عمران
ٱلَّذِينَ يَذۡكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ قِيَٰمࣰ ا وَقُعُودࣰ ا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمۡ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلۡقِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقۡتَ هَٰذَا بَٰطِلࣰ ا سُبۡحَٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ

Findings do not always carry across populations. A systematic review and meta-analysis of cortisol reactivity across psychiatric disorders found differences between groups, but with measurement heterogeneity large enough that no single stress hormone signature can be claimed. That is a caution about generalising from one group to another, which is exactly the question here.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Knowing how strong the evidence is lets you decide what to risk on it.
Real rest, closeness and unhurried prayer all ask for the same thing: being still while feeling safe. That is harder than it sounds if stillness has ever been dangerous.
Long histories of unresolved stress show up in bodies: inflammation, gut trouble, broken sleep, conditions that end up labelled unexplained. Being told it is all in your head is both wrong and useless.
The point of all this is not that your heart never pounds. It is that when a car pulls out in front of you, you are back to yourself in a minute instead of an hour.
