Lesson 6 of 6 · When this is a safety matter
Where to go, on both sides of it
There are two routes and they are separate. Both matter.
For you. A doctor is the fastest first door and you do not need the right words for it. Anger, and it has become physical is enough of a sentence. Ask specifically for a service that works with people who have been violent or frightening at home, because ordinary anger management is often not the right programme and a good clinician will tell you so. If you are in a country with a domestic abuse perpetrator service, that is the one, and self referral is usually possible.
For the people around you. If anyone in your home is frightened, they need their own support and it should not run through you. The course you want on this platform is Recognising harm at home, and it is written for the person on the receiving end. Sending them to it, or reading it yourself to understand what it describes, is a more useful act right now than finishing this course.
Nothing in this course, and nothing on this platform, permits frightening, threatening or striking anyone. If you have been told otherwise by anybody, that is not a ruling we host or repeat. The report below is in the Sahihayn and it is plainer than anything we could write: he never struck anyone with his hand, not a woman and not a servant.
Qur’an and Sunnah
Nothing here, and nothing on this platform, permits frightening, threatening or striking anyone, and this report is plainer than anything that could be written for it. He never struck anyone with his hand, not a woman and not a servant.
A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) never beat anyone with his hand, neither a woman nor a servant, but only, in the case when he had been fighting in the cause of Allah and he never took revenge for anything unless the things made inviolable by Allah were made violable; he then took revenge for Allah, the Exalted and Glorious
