What the treatment is, and why it is not in this course

For most anxiety disorders the treatment with the strongest evidence is exposure based. In plain words, working out with a trained person a series of small steps back towards what you have been avoiding, at a pace you agree together, so that your system gets the information it has never been allowed to collect.

We are not going to walk you through that, and you should not assemble it for yourself out of an article. Done alone it commonly goes wrong. People push far too hard, frighten themselves badly, and conclude they are beyond help. Done with somebody trained who knows your situation, it works well.

So this course gives you the map. Somebody qualified walks the road with you.

What the research says

National guidance puts the higher intensity treatments in the hands of a trained practitioner working to a protocol with supervision. That is why this course gives you the map and does not pretend to be the road.

Guidance puts the higher intensity psychological treatments in the hands of a trained practitioner working to a protocol, with supervision. That is the reason this course hands you the map instead of the road.
