If you need help now someone to contact, by country

Lesson 6 of 6 · When to get help, and what help looks like

Before you go looking for somebody

Answer it in your head first, then look.

Someone asks how they would know this has stopped being ordinary waswasa and become something worth treating. What would you tell them to look at?

Four markers, and none of them are spiritual. How much time it takes out of most days. Whether you have started avoiding, praying later or alone or less often because starting costs too much. What it is taking from your work, your sleep and the people around you. And distress that does not lift between episodes. If you do go looking, ask for somebody who names OCD by name rather than general talking therapy, and say at the first meeting if your faith matters to how you want this handled.
