The one sentence
Write the moment in your own words, and keep the action small enough to actually happen.

Holding two accounts at once
5 minutes or less
- Write the two accounts side by side. What it would mean if it were affliction, and if it were illness.
- Under each, write what you would expect to see if that one were true.
- Notice that you can test some of those and not others.
- You are not choosing. You are working out what each one predicts.
If it does not work
If somebody has told you that considering the second is a lack of faith, the lesson sets out that the tradition never asked you to choose, and that is the answer to that.
