The Prophet ﷺ raced ʿĀʾishah on a journey, and she outran him; years later, when she had grown heavier, he raced her again and won, and he said: this one for that one. Physical ease and play between spouses is not incidental to the marriage. It is part of how the Sunnah shows it being lived.
الروم
وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَنۡ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجࣰ ا لِّتَسۡكُنُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيۡنَكُم مَّوَدَّةࣰ وَرَحۡمَةًۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

Affectionate touch has measurable regulatory effects and forms a daily reciprocal loop with perceived responsiveness. Touch raises the sense of being cared for, which raises touch the following day.
In many long marriages touch quietly narrows until it means only one thing: an approach, an initiation, a request. When that happens, the whole physical channel becomes something to brace for, and casual affection disappears along with it. Decoupling touch from initiation reopens the channel. The practical version is undemanding contact in ordinary moments, especially moments where nothing is happening. If touch has become loaded in your marriage, this is the single most useful thing to change, and it will feel awkward before it feels natural.
