Keep each session short and cheerful and stop before anyone is upset, since one frightening attempt can set the whole thing back weeks. For capsules, tell the child to tuck their chin down towards their chest as they swallow. It feels wrong and it works, because a capsule floats and the water carries it back where you want it. If the whole idea genuinely distresses a child, ask about another formulation instead of pressing on.

God wants ease for you, not hardship (Quran 2:185). Taking trouble to make a daily requirement easy is in keeping with that.

It was in the month of Ramadan that the Quran was revealed as guidance for mankind, clear messages giving guidance and distinguishing between right and wrong. So any one of you who is present that month should fast, and anyone who is ill or on a journey should make up for the lost days by fasting on other days later. God wants ease for you, not hardship. He wants you to complete the prescribed period and to glorify Him for having guided you, so that you may be thankful

In a study of more than three hundred children taking methylphenidate, poor adherence was linked to maternal distress and strain in the parent and child relationship rather than to symptom severity alone. A daily fight at the kitchen table is exactly that kind of strain, so making the pill easy is not a small matter. It is an observational study and cannot show which way the influence runs.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Swallowing a pill is a skill, and skills come from small graded practice with something pleasant attached.
If the patch brings a rash, it is usually a reaction to the medicine passing through the skin rather than to the sticky backing. Worth knowing, because switching brand or trying a kinder tape will not fix it.
Canada once pulled a stimulant from the market after four cardiac deaths, then reversed the decision. Three of the four had heart abnormalities from birth and the fourth had been hiking in desert heat without water.
Blood pressure on a stimulant is an individual matter. For most people it is a non-event, and where it does rise the answer is often a different stimulant rather than none at all.
