That matters when one of them does not work or cannot be used. A poor response inside one family says little about the others, so a sequence has somewhere to go next. Ask which family you are being offered and why that one, because the answer usually shows what the prescriber is weighing: anxiety, tics, sleep, a substance history, blood pressure.

'God does not wish to place any burden on you' (Quran 5:6) is said where an alternative is given to those who cannot manage the usual way. More than one route being available is that same kindness in clinical form.
المائدة
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا قُمۡتُمۡ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَٱغۡسِلُواْ وُجُوهَكُمۡ وَأَيۡدِيَكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡمَرَافِقِ وَٱمۡسَحُواْ بِرُءُوسِكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡكَعۡبَيۡنِۚ وَإِن كُنتُمۡ جُنُبࣰ ا فَٱطَّهَّرُواْۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرۡضَىٰٓ أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوۡ جَآءَ أَحَدࣱ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡغَآئِطِ أَوۡ لَٰمَسۡتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمۡ تَجِدُواْ مَآءࣰ فَتَيَمَّمُواْ صَعِيدࣰ ا طَيِّبࣰ ا فَٱمۡسَحُواْ بِوُجُوهِكُمۡ وَأَيۡدِيكُم مِّنۡهُۚ مَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيَجۡعَلَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّنۡ حَرَجࣲ وَلَٰكِن يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمۡ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعۡمَتَهُۥ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ
You who believe, when you are about to pray, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, wipe your heads, wash your feet up to the ankles and, if required, wash your whole body. If any of you is sick or on a journey, or has just relieved himself, or had intimate contact with a woman, and can find no water, then take some clean sand and wipe your face and hands with it. God does not wish to place any burden on you: He only wishes to cleanse you and perfect His blessing on you, so that you may be thankful

A clinical review of twenty years of ADHD research covers what has been established about treatment and what remains open, and having distinct drug classes available is part of the settled picture. How they compare in strength is less settled, particularly outside childhood. Knowing the landscape is a different thing from knowing which one will suit you.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Different families reach the same circuit by different routes, so they fail and succeed in different people.
In simulator work the biggest improvements on medication show up in the drivers who were worst without it: stopping properly, slowing for an amber, actually looking around.
If the patch brings a rash, it is usually a reaction to the medicine passing through the skin rather than to the sticky backing. Worth knowing, because switching brand or trying a kinder tape will not fix it.
Some students do well on a long acting dose through the day plus a small short acting one in the evening for studying. Which short acting drug is chosen matters, because some are gentler on sleep than others.
