It gives you a structured way to describe the reactivity without reaching for a diagnosis the child may not have, and it points at what to change: which rooms, which fabrics, which parts of the day. Check the cutoff in the published scale rather than trusting a number remembered from a talk, including this one.
'God wishes to lighten your burden' (Quran 4:28). Taking weight off a child is the ordinary work here, and it is in good company.

Reactivity of this kind sits close to what is already known about ADHD. A meta-analysis found young people with ADHD impaired across several domains of emotion regulation rather than only in attention and activity. That is about emotion regulation rather than sensory sensitivity, so it supports taking the reactivity seriously as part of the picture, and it does not validate any particular questionnaire.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Once you can describe the load a child is carrying, you can start taking pieces of it off.
A questionnaire like this describes reactivity and neither rules autism in nor out, so keep that question open where the picture warrants it.
'I set a reminder and still did not do it' is not a story about a bad reminder. It tells you the missing piece was never information, and a bigger, louder version of the same thing will fail in the same way.
Attention and impulse problems that appear for the first time in middle age or later are not ADHD arriving late. They need a doctor to look, not a prescription.
A child who grew up listening for a parent's seizure learns to keep half an ear on the room, and years later that can look a great deal like distractibility. Ask what they were listening out for as a child.
