This works for a therapy group and it works for an evening at home. Say the difficult thing, then walk, stretch, wash up, anything that puts you back into your limbs. Leaving straight after the talking often means carrying the stirred up state around for hours. The order matters more than the activity does.
When the prayer has ended, disperse in the land (Quran 62:10). Stillness first and then the turn back into activity, in that order.
الجمعة
فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةُ فَٱنتَشِرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱبۡتَغُواْ مِن فَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱذۡكُرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرࣰ ا لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ

A multicentre randomised trial found that a structured bouldering psychotherapy programme reduced depression more than physical exercise on its own. That suggests pairing talking work with movement does something the exertion alone does not. It tested one specific programme, so it supports the pairing rather than proving any particular way of doing it.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Talking about hard things winds the body up, and moving is one of the ways it winds back down.
When a child starts martial arts and their maths marks go up, the maths did not improve. Their attention did, and timed maths tests measure attention as much as arithmetic.
Hours of nothing, then panic, then three hours locked onto the wrong task, then dread, then a promise that tomorrow will be different. If that is your day, it is a known pattern and not a character flaw.
One minute of moving between tasks. Star jumps, a lap of the corridor, anything that gets the blood going before you sit down to the next thing.
