Lesson 6 of 6 · When grief has become something else

The last one

Make it concrete. A day, and one person.

The move

Checking whether it has become something else

5 minutes or less

  1. Has it been long, by your own reckoning rather than anybody else's?
  2. Is the yearning still constant rather than in waves?
  3. Has your life stopped rather than slowed?
  4. Have you had thoughts of ending your life?
  5. The last one is today. The first three together are a reason to ask for an assessment.

If it does not work

There is no correct length for grief and nobody is timing you. These questions are about whether you are stuck, which is a different thing from whether you are sad.

Write the one sentence

A specific plan works better than a good intention. Fill both halves in your own words.
