Today, mark both thresholds. Before you leave, find your spouse and say goodbye properly, face to face. When you come back, find them before you do anything else. Sixty seconds each. Twice a day.
The Prophet ﷺ taught that spreading the greeting of peace among yourselves is a cause of love between you. The greeting is not decoration on the relationship; it is one of the things that builds it. The person at your own door has the first claim on it.
النساء
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمۡ أَن تَرِثُواْ ٱلنِّسَآءَ كَرۡهࣰ اۖ وَلَا تَعۡضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذۡهَبُواْ بِبَعۡضِ مَآ ءَاتَيۡتُمُوهُنَّ إِلَّآ أَن يَأۡتِينَ بِفَٰحِشَةࣲ مُّبَيِّنَةࣲۚ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ فَإِن كَرِهۡتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكۡرَهُواْ شَيۡـࣰٔ ا وَيَجۡعَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيۡرࣰ ا كَثِيرࣰ ا
You who believe, it is not lawful for you to inherit women against their will, nor should you treat your wives harshly, hoping to take back some of the bride-gift you gave them, unless they are guilty of something clearly outrageous. Live with them in accordance with what is fair and kind: if you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something in which God has put much good

Accessibility is the precondition for a secure bond. Thresholds are the moments where availability is most visible, and where its absence is most keenly registered.
Departures and reunions happen every single day, which makes them the cheapest ritual available and the easiest to let erode. Most couples stop marking them not from indifference but from logistics: you are late, they are on a call, the children need something. But the nervous system reads the pattern, not the reason. A spouse who is greeted at the door is receiving a small, repeated signal that their arrival is an event. Sixty seconds, twice a day, is roughly six hours a year of undivided attention that costs you almost nothing.
