The point carries well beyond the army. When you are helping someone choose work, ask what the day actually looks like rather than what the job is called. Structure supplied from outside can stand in for the planning that is hardest to generate from inside, and feedback that comes today does more than a review in six months. A badly fitted job is not a character problem, and a well fitted one can carry somebody for years.

'God wants ease for you, not hardship' (Quran 2:185). Choosing conditions you can actually work inside is a small application of that.

شَهۡرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ هُدࣰ ى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَٰتࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَٱلۡفُرۡقَانِۚ فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنكُمُ ٱلشَّهۡرَ فَلۡيَصُمۡهُۖ وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرࣲ فَعِدَّةࣱ مِّنۡ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَۗ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُمُ ٱلۡيُسۡرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ ٱلۡعُسۡرَ وَلِتُكۡمِلُواْ ٱلۡعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُواْ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَىٰكُمۡ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ
It was in the month of Ramadan that the Quran was revealed as guidance for mankind, clear messages giving guidance and distinguishing between right and wrong. So any one of you who is present that month should fast, and anyone who is ill or on a journey should make up for the lost days by fasting on other days later. God wants ease for you, not hardship. He wants you to complete the prescribed period and to glorify Him for having guided you, so that you may be thankful

A review of long-term treatment in adults found short-term benefit from stimulants and atomoxetine well documented, while evidence for effects on real-world outcomes over the longer run stays limited. Nobody has run a trial of choosing the right job. So treat this as sensible fitting rather than a proven intervention, and keep it alongside treatment rather than in place of it.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Structure coming from the environment does the job that internal planning finds hardest.
If a question at the counter feels like judgement rather than care, you are allowed to ask which it is. Is this a medical question or a personal one?
When a prescription cannot be filled, you can report it to the medicines regulator's shortage inbox, naming the medication and the pharmacy. Nobody writes back, and people often find their prescription turns up soon afterwards.
There are three families of medicine here: the stimulants, the agents that work on noradrenaline alone, and the alpha-2 drugs that began as blood pressure treatments. Three routes rather than three brands of one thing.
