The relationship before cannot be recovered as it was. Aim instead for a second marriage, to the same person, on firmer ground.
He created spouses for you to live with in tranquillity, and ordained love and kindness between you (Quran 30:21). That love can be rebuilt anew, on truer foundations.
الروم
وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَنۡ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجࣰ ا لِّتَسۡكُنُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيۡنَكُم مَّوَدَّةࣰ وَرَحۡمَةًۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
Another of His signs is that He created spouses from among yourselves for you to live with in tranquillity: He ordained love and kindness between you. There truly are signs in this for those who reflect

Gottman frames recovery as building a second relationship with the same person rather than restoring the one that existed before. Naming it as a fresh start founded on honesty gives the couple a goal they can actually reach.

Atone, Attune, Attach. The betrayer atones without conditions and the hurt partner sets the pace; the couple then rebuilds attunement; and only then attachment. Skipping ahead to reconnection produces what Gottman calls cheap forgiveness.
Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Framing recovery as building a new, more honest relationship, rather than restoring the old one, gives couples a realistic path forward.

Do not rush to analyze why it happened. That comes much later, and never as a way to shift blame.
Deliberately hold your partner's good qualities in mind, and let cherishing crowd out resentful thoughts.
Aim for real forgiveness that comes with repair, not a cheap forgiveness that papers over the wound to keep the peace.
