Lesson 6 of 6 · Who to tell, and how to reach them
The last one
Telling one person is the whole plan. Not the person harming you, and nobody who will go to him.
The move
Making the call
10 minutes or less
- Pick one specialist service rather than a friend first. They do this all day and a friend does not.
- Call from a phone they cannot see, or from somewhere else.
- You do not have to be sure it counts, and you do not have to be leaving.
- Say one sentence: I think things at home are not right and I do not know what to do.
- Delete the call from your history afterwards if that matters where you are.
If it does not work
If you are in immediate danger, that is the emergency number rather than a helpline. In the UK, if you cannot speak, call 999, wait, and press 55.
Write the one sentence
A specific plan works better than a good intention. Fill both halves in your own words.
When
I will
Put it in your calendar
Pick a day and a time and you will get a calendar file to open. Nothing is sent anywhere.
